Welcome to the Music Club Website!
We are a student-run society comprising various groups spanning many genres. Click on our Groups/Ensembles page and see if we have something that would suit you! All the groups are open to any ability, and no auditions are necessary. We are a very friendly and social club always keen to welcome new members, just drop us an e-mail. With 9 different ensembles and 4 annual concerts, as well as regular social events with the whole club, a residential trip and an end of year ball, joining Music Club is a relaxed and enjoyable way of playing music while meeting some great people at University.

On Thursday 16th February we will be holding a free evening concert in the University Music Building Club Room at 7pm. Here we will have many different performances showing off the wide array of talents our club has to offer. We'll probably head to QM afterwards!
A great night was had on Saturday 26th November with some of the music club members having our Christmas Dinner in Bank Street Bar! Photos are up on our Facebook or our photo page on our website!
Autumn Evening Concert
On Thursday 27th October we had our annual autumn concert where some of our members come out to show their amazing musical talent both in groups and soloists. There are some pictures here on the website! Thanks to everyone who came - looking forward to the next concert!
GU Music Club Spring Concert
The Music Club marked the end of the semester and the start of the Easter holidays with a Spring Concert!
The concert showcased a range of performances by all of our ensembles and we were lucky to have guest performances from both the GU Big Band and the Jazz Society.
The Music Club also held a raffle to support Drake Music Scotland and raised nearly £200! Thank you to the audience for your generous donations.

A wonderful evening of music-making, showcasing a number of Music Club groups and the Glasgow University Law Society choir. Pictures can be found here!

GUMC Burns Night Ceilidh
Celtic Group treated Music Club and guests to an early Burns Night Ceilidh at the GUU Debates Chamber!

GUMC Refreshers Social at Dram!
GU Music Club welcomed old and new members back to a new semester with drinks as well as some tunes by our very own Celtic group!
GUMC Christmas Dinner
Music Club members enjoyed a lovely meal at Bank Street Bar to get in the festive spirit!
The best bit was no doubt our superb hats.
GUMC Bees Subcrawl
Music Club had its second major social of the year. This year the theme for our Subcrawl was bees. The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing! It was great to see so many people despite the awful weather. It was fantastic to see so many new faces.
The Music Club Committee hopes everyone had an amazing time!
GUMC Scavenger Hunt Pub Crawl
On this social the Music Club split up into teams for our West End pub crawl with a twist! Each team was given a list of weird and wonderful challenges to complete along the route, including collecting different items or taking photos or videos.
It was a great opportunity for everyone in Music Club to get to know each other better. It was a great night with a really good turnout.
Bi-Year Election (Formerly known as EGM) - 2016
Our EGM took place last month and we want to say thank you to all those who came along and ran for positions. In the end we were voting for a new First Year Representative and an Auditor.
Congratulations to our new member David Chalmers and other newly elected auditor for the year!
Burns Night Ceilidh
Our annual Burns Night Ceilidh took place on Wednesday 25th January and it was a huge success! So many of you came out with friends, flatmates etc to join the fun in GUU with our own folk group providing amazing music to dance to. We want to say thank you to all who came and continue to come to our events and to all those who performed! Next event coming soon...
GUMC Scavenger Hunt
This was our second club social of the year and it was a great success! We scavenged our way around the West End in our groups and ended up in Bank Street Bar before some of us headed to Hive!
This event was very enjoyable, watch out for our upcoming events - the next being a subcrawl in November!

Freshers Week 2016
A huge welcome to all our Freshers this year!
During Freshers Week we were in the marquee at Freshers Fair speaking to new people and getting them to sign up to hear more information about the Music Club (if you didn't see us at the fair don't worry, you can contact us via email for any further details: email@example.com). On the Friday of Freshers Week we had our Freshers Lunch which was a great time to get to know the Freshers and tell them more about the Music Club. After the Freshers Lunch we had performances from some of our groups; Saxophone Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Flute Choir - they were all great and it give a taste for what Music Club is like!
We hope you enjoyed Freshers Week and we look forward to seeing you at our rehearsals and socials this year!
The Summer Music Ball
Glasgow University Music Club was proud to host the Summer Music Ball, a collaborative event for GUMC and GU Music students to celebrate the end of another successful year! We hope everyone who came along to the Summer Music Ball had a lovely evening!
Thanks to Arta Glasgow for hosting such a wonderful event and to the Kylestrome Ceilidh Band for getting us all up to dance!

GUMC Pub Golf!
Our 9-hole challenge was a success with everyone wearing their best golfing attire: polo shirts, visors, and v-necks! We got around 8 holes and finished the night in the Hive!
