Hannah Kirkwood

President & Percussion Ensemble LEader

President of the Music Club is a challenging but very enjoyable role. They organise and chair weekly committee meetings, oversee concerts and events and liase with the university music department. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is able to dedicate the time and effort required.

Being percussion group coordinator is a chance to lead a music group, and a good way to improve organisational and skills in a very friendly and relaxed group that is willing to try new things.


Freya Nankikivell

Vice President & flute choir leader

The Vice President assists the President in all their tasks and have their own responsibilities which include organising the Music Ball. The VP should be prepared to chair meetings in the absence of the President. It is a varied role and important qualities for the VP include being flexible, organised and good at team work.

The Flute Choir co-coordinator is in charge of running weekly rehearsals, preparing music, conducting and organising social events for a cheerful group of flautists.


Archie Wallace

TReasureR & Composition group leader

The role of treasurer is very important and requires someone who is organised and efficient. The main duties include putting membership money and concert donations to the bank and ensuring that an accurate record is kept of all incoming and outgoing finances. The treasurer will also give a financial report at the end of each academic year to the appointed auditor.

The Composition Group Leader organises and chairs the weekly meeting. They lead the discussion of various aspects of composing and invite guest speakers along throughout the year.


Laura Nightingale

Welfare officer & chamber choir leader

The Welfare Officer is responsible for the safeguarding of our members. They monitor a complaints form and help resolve any issues members may have within the club in a caring and considerate way.

The Chamber Choir co-coordinator leads and conducts the Chamber choir. As it focuses on classical and Renaissance music, experience in this genre of music is helpful to the role.

Wind band coordinator

The Wind Band Co-ordinators are responsible for running weekly rehearsals, preparing music and organising social events for our Wind Band.



Linzi Brain

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE LEADER & music student representative

Being percussion group coordinator is a chance to lead a music group, and a good way to improve organisational and skills in a very friendly and relaxed group that is willing to try new things.

The Music Student Representative will be a voice for those currently studying music, and will ensure that their interests help to shape the Club’s activities.

PIPING GROUP LEADER

The Piping Group leader will take responsibility for our newest ensemble, directing the group in a wide range of musical styles, both traditional and alternative.

EVENTS AND PUBLICITY COORDINATOR

This role involves organising all our social events throughout the year. Including events such as Scavenger Hunt, Burn's Night Ceilidh, Subcrawl, Christmas Dinner and more.



Victoria Scott

ORDINARY MEMBER

Being an ordinary member means you help out with all the odd jobs that need doing. This includes being an extra pair of hands to set up at concerts, putting up posters, and helping out at social events. By attending committee meetings you also have the opportunity to offer your creative input to the running of music club events and be part of decision making.

Anne Hornman

secretary & Choir leader

The position of secretary is a great role to play on the Music Club Committee and regular jobs of the secretary are to take the minutes at weekly meetings and keep up with the club correspondence. It is a good opportunity to help organise the events of the club alongside the events coordinators, have your opinion heard and also learn more about the club.

The Choir co-coordinator leads the choir in a range of musical styles. This involves preparing music – i.e. learning all the different choral parts in order to teach the music most effectively.

The Brass Ensemble co-coordinator is in charge of running weekly rehearsals, preparing music and organising social events for our Brass Ensemble.


Katy Drummond

wind band coordinator

As the Wind Band is our largest group they are managed by two coordinators. They are also tasked with finding a conductor, the scanning and uploading of all the music, and organising the wind band concert.

SAXOPHONE ENSEMBLE LEADER

The Saxophone Ensemble Co-ordinator is responsible for running weekly rehearsals, preparing music and organising social events for our Saxophone Ensemble.


Olivia McLean

social media convener

The social media convener handles all of the GUMC’s social media accounts. This involves creating and publicising events, promoting the club to students online and keeping our members updated with all things Music Club.


Emily Paige

EVENTS AND PUBLICITY COORDINATOR

In addition the co-ordinators play a key role in the marketing of our events. This role is great fun and requires a very enthusiastic and outgoing person for social events to be a success.

It is a good way of gaining insight into how music club runs and how all of the other committee roles work in case you want to take on a more senior position the following year.
